SPATIAL TECHNOLOGIES WORKSHOP 22 NOVEMBER
As part of World GIS Day the Faculty of Education is hosting a workshop round table on GIS and spatial technologies currently being used in classrooms. This workshop is ideal for - current users of spatial technologies and teachers interested in applying spatial technology to their teaching and learning framework Program 7.30 am – 8.00 am Registration, breakfast, networking 8.00 am – 11 am Presentations, Workshop, video link to USA. Talking Innovation Breakfast Series Talking Innovation 2005 The Faculty of Education and the QUT Sustainable Living Initiative present the second seminar in the "Talking Innovation" Breakfast Series. Catherine O’Sullivan, Assistant Director-General (Regional Delivery), Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries, has been invited to present on October 10 at QUT’s Kelvin Grove campus. Catherine is responsible for regional delivery and the focus of her work is to build new service delivery which will enable regions to deliver a profitable and sustainable future. Catherine’s work in this field was recognized by the Goondiwindi community when she was awarded the Citizen of the year in 2002 and the QLD Telstra Business woman of the year 2002/2003. The Breakfast Series will continue the dialogue with the community on issues related to sustainability, living and learning. More information can be obtained by contacting Associate Professor Jill Brannoch j.brannock@qut.edu.au Executive Leadership and Middle Years of Schooling Two exciting new areas of expertise have been added to the Graduate Certificate in Education and will be available for commencement in second semester 2004. The Graduate Certificate in Education (Executive Leadership) has been tailored for executives, leaders, directors, middle managers, senior managers, deputy principals or a professionals interested in pursuing a career in leadership who want to enrich their skills and engage with the latest in leadership theory and practice. Features include: work-place focus; utilising action learning principles; flexibility and relevance to meet individual professional needs; and the opportunity to access executive leadership units from other QUT Faculties, such as Business and Law. The Graduate Certificate in Education (Middle Years of Schooling) has been formulated to allow educators who are particularly interested in the middle years of schooling to access a practical and workplace focussed course which provides relevant, applicable knowledge and practice. The course is available through the external mode of study and it is also possible for cohorts to study together.
